KYIV EXHIBITION 14.11.-10.12.2025

On November 14, Kyiv National Art Gallery and CUTOUT COLLAGE ART PROJECT has presented the FINAL exhibition of this year's international collage festival CUTOUT, which takes place in three capitals of the world this year — KYIV, PARIS, and TOKYO — exploring the theme "IDENTITY CODE: Nation, Culture, Politics." ✨

Kyiv has welcomed 132 authors from around the world, presenting their collages in analog, digital, and mixed media, as well as animations, installations, and art books. Most of the works are mini-format collages, which form the basis of the exhibition. ✨

The CUTOUT festival is one of the main events in the collage world, taking place every two years since 2021. In addition to the festival, the art project creates independent exhibitions on socio-political topics important to Ukraine, in particular in support of Ukrainian prisoners of war; it has a collage studio and a residence for artists seeking professional development in the field of collage. The co-founders of CUTOUT COLLAGE ART PROJECT, Annete Sagal and Katya Syta, have elevated collage from a simple technique to an art form that is now attracting the interest of galleries and museums throughout Ukraine.

The main exhibition of the festival will feature artists:

As you can see, the main issue was the identity code. To address this, I created a series of analog mini collages that explore the intersection of cultural symbolism and personal narrative. These pieces delve into the complexities of identity, memory, and fragmentation, using tactile materials, idea of a broken mirror in respect of the memory lines we all carry and the layered textures to evoke a sense of introspection and universality.

This collection will be presented the years’s AUTUMN & WINTER in three vibrant artistic hubs

KYIV at the KNAG Kyiv National Art Gallery

PARIS at the Le Bonheur Est Dans L’Instant Gallery

&

TOKYO at the Between Gallery.

Each location offers a unique cultural lens, enriching the dialogue around the work and expanding its resonance with diverse audiences. The exhibitions aim to challenge conventional definitions of identity and invite viewers to engage with the fluidity and multiplicity inherent to human experience.

For now, I won’t reveal the entire pieces—just a sneak peek.

I will return with detailed insights on each exhibition separately.

Stay tuned for a closer look at the stories behind the art.
